  4. This software update is being made available to provide users the latest
  5. Indeo(TM) Video Codec for compressing, editing and playing back video on
  6. your desktop computer, using Apple's QuickTime software.
  7.  
  8. If you get this file from a non Macintosh computer, the file will
  9. be encoded as a MacBinary file called I322QT.BIN. After converting from
  10. MacBinary, the file will be named "Indeo(TM) Video R3.2 V3.22." See MacBinary
  11. conversion notes at the end of this document.

  13. This version is an update to the Indeo Video R3.2 release contained on
  14. Apple's QuickTime 2.0 Software Developers Kit CD.
  15.  
  16. This software will install the latest Indeo Video QuickTime component,
  17. version V3.22.21.02, that works in QuickTime versions 1.6.1 and 2.0.

  19. Also included in this release, for the first time, is the latest Intel Raw
  20. Codec that works in QuickTime. This Codec provides the capability to
  21. decode video files captured with the Intel Smart Video Recorder that
  22. operates under Windows. QuickTime MooV files can be compressed into
  23. this format as well.

  27. * The compressor algorithm has been updated from R3.20 to R3.22.
  28.    The new algorithm produces higher quality video with more accurate
  29.    data rate control.  In addition, the maximum size movie that can
  30.    be compressed has been increased from 320x240 to 640x480.

  32.  * This is the first release where an Intel Raw Codec is being distributed with
  33.     the latest Indeo Video codec technology. With this additional codec, a more
  34.     complete cross-platform development solution is provided. Intel Raw
  35.     compressed video files can be created on either Video for Windows (VfW) or
  36.     QuickTime platforms and recompressed into Indeo Video on either platform
  37.     as well. See the Read Me file included with this release for more information
  38.     on the Intel Raw compression format.

  40. * Both 'iv32'  and 'IV32' are recognized as Indeo R3.2 movie formats.
  41.    This is for compatibility with some Video for Windows to QuickTime
  42.    translators that produce lower case format signatures.

  54. MakeItMooV -- V1.2

  56.   This application changes the type and creator of a file to "MooV" and
  57.   "TVOD" respectively.  The former allows the file to be recognized as
  58.   a movie file by all QuickTime applications;  the latter causes the
  59.   MoviePlayer to be the default application for opening the file.

  61.   This utility is useful when importing movies from non-Macintosh
  62.   environments (QuickTime for Windows), in which they are not assigned
  63.   appropriate Macintosh file types or creators.

  68. MacBinary Conversion Notes:
  69. -------------------------
  70. When this software is distributed on non-Macintosh computers, it must be
  71. first converted into a format that allows Macintosh two fork files to be
  72. read and written as a single fork file. There is a standard for this type of
  73. conversion, MacBinary. The encoding conversion, which takes place on a Mac,
  74. combines the two file forks into one with header information prepended for
  75. later decoding. Files that have been encoded into MacBinary usually have the
  76. '.bin' file extension. After encoding, these files can be transported through
  77. DOS or Unix computers. When they arrive back on a Macintosh computer, they
  78. need to be decoded back into normal two fork Macintosh files. This decoding
  79. can be done by several commercial and shareware applications. The StuffIt
  80. Deluxe and StuffIt Lite versions 3.0.6 (or later) programs can decode
  81. MacBinary files. Use the Translate menu, not File Open, to perform this
  82. decoding. Two other shareware applications that do this decoding are
